Centering on the fingerprint as a symbol of individuality and life’s inescapable imprint, the work celebrates the bold presence of bald, Black women — powerful embodiments of self-defined beauty and resilience.

Rendered in acrylic and soft pastel, the portrait captures a woman’s face as both a literal and symbolic vessel of personal history. My distinctive style emphasises facial expression and form to suggest a life shaped by both choice and circumstance. Fingerprints, subtly embedded or boldly present, serve as metaphors for the unique narratives written into the body, stories of heritage, identity, and fate.

Through this series, you're invited to reflect on how identity is shaped: by visible traits, invisible histories, and the tension between agency and inevitability. Each work becomes a celebration of Black womanhood in all its complexity and strength.
